FRAMED: KIWI WINNER IN MELBOURNE

Link
Just had lunch @ The Pier, Port Melbourne, with the lovely Josh Steele - Kiwi winner of 2011's Spectacle Wearer of the Year to start of his Melbourne Weekend prize of races, shopping and fun.

So nice to see you again Josh and have a brilliant weekend! xxx

Ps. If you are wondering why my eyes look so small and puffy, it's because not only spring has arrived in Melbourne but also the lovely, wonderfully pleasant pollen!!! I am about to scratch my eyes out, it is HORRIBLE. I just want to cry... so, a little but of advice for those of you in the same situation like me: Wear your glasses instead of Contact Lenses! And if the sun comes out, why don't you get a tint or transition lenses in your prescription glasses to still look snazzy under the sun and in a cloud of pollen... there are plenty of frames also suitable as sunglasses...

Ps 2. Josh is wearing his new Grenville glasses and I am in my black GW 02.

GOK WAN LAUNCH: AUCKLAND

Together with the New Zealand Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards Ceremony, Specsavers launched the retro inspired eyewear collection by Gok Wan to the Auckland media. Photographers, journalists and lovers of style were gathered in the Generator Room in the beautiful Stanbeth House. Before spinning the catwalk, our gorgeous retro-styled models were acting the "Mad Men era" in the setting of a 60s styled office with authentic typewriters, whiskey on the desks and sexy secretaries.

Me, introducing the fashion show and the new GW Collection (with passion, as you can see:-)

AND THE WINNER... A (KIWI) MAN! CONGRATULATIONS JOSH!

The winner of New Zealand Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards 2011 was yesterday announced at a glamorous event in Auckland. The Generator Room in Stanbeth House, Britomart, was filled with photographers, journalists and enthusiastic Specs wearers when the seven finalists lined up before the celebrity judges Denise L'Estrange - Corbet and Colin Mathura - Jeffree who both claimed the decision making being incredibly hard as any of the finalists would have been brilliant style ambassadors for specs wearing Kiwis. However, 21 year old Josh Steele stood out with his stylish appearance and positive view on wearing glasses as an accessory.

Colin said the bachelor business student caught the judges eyes because "we were looking for someone who created a bit of a spectacle of themselves for all the right reasons, someone who wore their glasses with pride".

"I was stoked to hear that I would win a trip to Melbourne and 4 pairs of brand new glasses from Specsavers to build my specs wardrobe" said Josh.

As part of his price package was a donation of $2500 to a charity of his choice. In honor of his father who got diagnosed with leukemia 9 years ago and is now in remission, Josh chose to donate money to the Cancer Society. He's also won a $2500 shopping spree and VIP passes to the Tatts Cox Plate day in Melbourne.

Big Congratulations to Josh, Kiwi Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2011, who alongside the Aussie winner Matt Ducey, ensures all eyes are on Man Style this spring!

SPECSAVERS SPECTACLE WEARER OF THE YEAR 2011

Congratulations Matt!

Matt Ducey will be packing his bags next month for an all expenses paid trip to NY to be personally photographed by international supermodel and photographer Helena Christensen. Matt got his lucky break after taking out the title for the coveted 2011 Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.

The six foot three, blue eyed brunette, beat seven other finalists, selected from a pool of hundreds of entrants from across Australia to be named Australia’s best framed face. Matt could become the nation’s next modelling sensation after picking up a 12 month modelling contract with Australia’s top commercial modelling agency, Scoop.

The competition was judged on overall specs appeal and personality by a cast of elite judges who represent Australia’s finest in the fashion and modelling industry including notable designer Alex Perry, Leea Oak of Scoop Model Management, Grant Pearce, Creative Advisor of L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival and Melissa Hoyer one of Australia's leading fashion commentators.

Matt Ducey said, “I was so excited to even be part of the finals, I can’t believe I now have a modelling contract and get to meet Helena Christensen!

"I've been wearing glasses for a few years, and while I have prescription lenses, glasses today are stylish and they're a great accessory. I decided to enter the competition because I've wanted to get into modelling for a while and thought the competition would be a great stepping stone into the industry.

“It has been such an amazing experience. It was great to meet the other finalists and the judges. I was so excited to meet Alex Perry!”

Following a gruelling interview process and competitive photo shoot in Sydney yesterday the West Australian stunner was handpicked for his infectious spirit, natural charm and piercing eyes.

Alex Perry, Australian designer and judge panellist said, “It was a really tough decision, the calibre of finalists was incredibly high but Matt was definitely the stand out for me. He really shone in front of the camera and when it comes to spec style, he knows what works, there isn’t a frame that doesn’t work on that face!"

Matt will be flown to New York next month to kick start his modelling career with a private photo shoot with Helena Christensen.

The runners-up, Monique Wright, NSW, Kelly-Anne Knox, NSW, Amy Jarvis, QLD, Martika Massarotto, SA, Louise Warwick, QLD and Aimee Barlow, NSW didn’t walk away empty-handed they each received $1,000 cash and everyone took home a goodie bag of products from NP Set and TRESemme, as well as a $800 Specsavers voucher.

The lucky winner together with runners-up Louise, Martika, Monique, Amy Jarvis, Aimee and Kelly-Anne.

The judges: Heather Potter, Head of PR at Specsavers with Leea Oak of Scoop Model Management, Grant Pearce, Creative Advisor of L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival, Melissa Hoyer, one of Australia's leading fashion commentators - and Australia's most glamorous fashion designer Alex Perry.

Fernando is one of the guys who has got a chance of winning the Spectacle Wearer of the year 2011 and I would definitely vote for him. I looooooove his style! And, apparently, his glasses have traveled all the way from Miami Beach in Florida were they were found after a long search for the right pair. I like!
