EYE FOR FASHION

Couldn't resist sharing this wonderful bit of car-fashion. A little Fiat 500 with eyelashes... wouldn't that be something for my little Micra? Should find a pair of sunglasses to go with as well in time for the Melbourne summer... ha ha

THE GW COLLECTION BY GOK WAN

This series of frames with beautiful speckles of blue, brown, green, yellow and pink is a true masterpiece. Especially when caught by the light, the mottled acetate creates the most stunning effects. They come in two different styles, both with key hole bridge; one rectangular version (GW12) and the other one with a rounded shape (GW09).

GW02 comes in satin black, warm grey and ivory white and is one of my favorites with its contemporary shape - but still with a vintage feel to it - slightly rounded edges but intricate arm decor which really captures the characteristics of the early 1900s Art Deco.

GW18 and GW08 in bold acetate with striped wooden effects in black, light brown and charcoal grey and the iconic keyhole bridge, a'la 60s Mad Men style!

GW14 - Bold, rectangular acetate in traditional tortoiseshell and mustard yellow for those who are looking for something a little different...

GW13 - Iconic aviator, 70s style, in jet black and navy blue / warm grey acetate!

GW04 - the iconic 50s Cat's Eyes! Ultra-feminine and a real statement piece in matte, wooden black and ivory white.

GW 17 - beautiful, feminine with Art deco arms

GW07 - soft, feminine shape

GW01 - feminine, angular

Gok Wan has taken the fashion and TV world by storm to become one of the UK’s most sought-after entertainers since his arrival in the British spotlight in 2006. Gok has presented numerous highly-acclaimed, top-rated TV shows, amongst them “How to Look Good Naked” - a concept that was brought to life in Australia a few months ago when Goks tour of naked - but body painted - women hit the streets of Sydney.

Gok has been a Specsavers ambassador since 2007, when he was awarded the prestigious Best Newcomer Award at Specsavers’ annual Spectacle Wearer of the Year awards in London. A winning relationship was born and Gok has hosted the annual extravaganza ever since.

Gok studied performing arts, attending the Charles Keene College of Further Education before moving on to London’s prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama. There he found himself drawn to the backstage world of hair and make-up, prompting his entrĂ©e into the fashion industry. Feeling dissatisfied with beauty alone, Gok decided to pursue his love of clothes as a fashion stylist. Since then Gok has dressed many celebrities, his work has been published internationally in several publications, including Tatler, Glamour, Sunday Times Style, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, The Face, and The People and he has worked with several renowned photographers.

He has written three successful style books as well as penning his own best-selling autobiography “Through Thick and Thin”, in which Gok addresses the challenges he faced growing up. As well as fronting several high profile advertising campaigns and developing his own range of underwear, beauty products - and glasses, Gok is a relentless supporter of numerous charities.

In 2009 aqnd 2010, Gok appeared in NZ for Specsavers and took the media by storm - charming fashion editors and journalists across the country with his infectious personality and charm and cheeky sense of humour.

This year, he’s touring with Westfield, bringing his styling flair to everyday Aussies and promoting his very own GW for Specsavers range. Now, everyone can have a little Gok in their lives when his first Eyewear collection, exclusively designed for Specsavers, hits our stores!

AND THE WINNER... A (KIWI) MAN! CONGRATULATIONS JOSH!

The winner of New Zealand Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards 2011 was yesterday announced at a glamorous event in Auckland. The Generator Room in Stanbeth House, Britomart, was filled with photographers, journalists and enthusiastic Specs wearers when the seven finalists lined up before the celebrity judges Denise L'Estrange - Corbet and Colin Mathura - Jeffree who both claimed the decision making being incredibly hard as any of the finalists would have been brilliant style ambassadors for specs wearing Kiwis. However, 21 year old Josh Steele stood out with his stylish appearance and positive view on wearing glasses as an accessory.

Colin said the bachelor business student caught the judges eyes because "we were looking for someone who created a bit of a spectacle of themselves for all the right reasons, someone who wore their glasses with pride".

"I was stoked to hear that I would win a trip to Melbourne and 4 pairs of brand new glasses from Specsavers to build my specs wardrobe" said Josh.

As part of his price package was a donation of $2500 to a charity of his choice. In honor of his father who got diagnosed with leukemia 9 years ago and is now in remission, Josh chose to donate money to the Cancer Society. He's also won a $2500 shopping spree and VIP passes to the Tatts Cox Plate day in Melbourne.

Big Congratulations to Josh, Kiwi Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2011, who alongside the Aussie winner Matt Ducey, ensures all eyes are on Man Style this spring!
